Shelter for Men
 
If you are a homeless male, St. Joseph Shelter may have a space for you. The shelter operates 365 days a year and shelters up to 32 men in a barracks style setting. Residents receive breakfast, dinner and supportive services to help secure employment, permanent housing and any other services that may be needed.

St. Joseph Shelter operates on a first come, first served basis, so men seeking shelter should arrive at or before 7:30 AM Monday through Friday to sign up for a bed. St. Joseph Shelter is located at 425 St. John St. in Lafayette, Louisiana. Please bring with you a valid form of ID. St. Joseph Shelter cannot shelter registered sex offenders or men with active warrants.

Please note that on nights that the shelter operates a freeze plan, IDs are not required to be sheltered for the night.

If you are a homeless female, or female veteran, with or without
children, the New Life Center may have a space for you. Located in
Opelousas, Louisiana, the New Life Center operates 365 days a year and shelters up to 58 women and their children in a hotel room style setting. The Center provides three hot meals a day, a licensed Class A child care center, a substance abuse program and supportive services to help secure employment, permanent housing and other services that may be needed.

Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 3 PM.
 
 
Shelter for Veterans

If you are a homeless veteran, we provide emergency and transitional housing for both male and female veterans. St. Michael Center for Veterans is an emergency and transitional housing program with supportive services for homeless male veterans with disabilities. The New Life Center in Opelousas, listed above, provides emergency and transitional housing for homeless female veterans, with or without children. For more information, contact New Life Center at (337) 948-3161, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Basic Hygiene Services

Stell Maris Center provides a place for individuals to take a shower, use the restroom, do laundry, and take care of other basic hygiene needs.

Through partnerships with other local organizations, Stella Maris Center connects individuals with additional resources available to assist them.

Stella Maris Center is located at 615 W. Simcoe Street.
Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and 12:00pm - 2:00 p.m.
